SPOILER FREE REVIEW

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War was released April 27th after much long anticipation and build from other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie has been highly guarded to prevent spoilers, both keeping details from the actors themselves as well as using the hashtag #ThanosDemandsYourSilence. As an attempt to keep from spoiling this movie for you, I won’t go as in depth as our past reviews, but with that being said, let’s get into the review.
Right off the bat, I don’t think I’ve ever been so stressed while watching a movie. It’s definitely a lot to process, but I really enjoyed it. I ended up seeing it twice, and I definitely felt the same both times.
I liked each individual entrance by the characters. Everything made sense and it really flows from Thor: Ragnarok. The script was well-written, and the jokes didn’t fall flat, not even after watching it a second time. It was really interesting how funny, yet dark this movie was. Each character has their own specific personality, and, while we’re used to the clash of some of them because of Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, or some end credits scenes, this was far more entertaining.

Most of the characters are jerks in their own way, and seeing them interact creates far more opportunities for hilarity. I like that upon first encounters, they don’t entirely like or trust each other which makes the characters more realistic. The dynamic is great, and nothing is lost. All character appearances are necessary in some way or another.
They didn’t use their allotted f-bomb, but one was almost in there a la Spiderman: Homecoming. It was a funny part of an otherwise not so happy moment, and I wasn’t entirely sure how I should’ve felt at the time. The entire movie is a rollercoaster of emotions. Seeing it twice, I found myself laughing and crying at different parts of the movie, and I was able to catch things I missed the first time around.

I do have to say the build up for this movie was really well done. Getting to Infinity War, you have a better understanding of each character, so all you have to do is focus on the action. Speaking of action, this movie is two and a half hours long, but I felt it went by so quickly. There wasn’t a dull moment. I was totally immersed the entire time and thought it was over way too soon.
The editing was done very well, switching off between characters and locations. Each character was well represented in importance and screen time.
My only gripes with this movie are post-production and animation related. There is a section where Gamora’s face, along the edge of her cheek in profile, that disappears into the background and starts looking a bit fuzzy. It’s most likely a keying error, but it could be better. The animation part is a major spoiler so I won’t be mentioning it here.
Overall, Avengers: Infinity War is a very action-packed, emotionally draining movie. I think it was very good, very well done, and much deserving of its hype. I only wish more people have seen it because I’m terrified of spoiling it for someone else.
